Windows or Linux????
We all know that Microsoft’s Windows is ruling the Operating System market.It is surely feature packed and user friendly. But sadly it is a proprietary software. Its not free. We need to buy a license for it if we wish to use it legally. But now a days many Linux variants like Ubuntu, Debian etc are becoming popular among the Open source software lovers. As a user of both Windows and Linux, what I have felt is that, Linux lacks compatibility with most of the softwares. About 80% of the new software releases are only for windows.
Can Linux ever beat Microsoft’s stake in the OS market???

Instead raising a question you could have tried to state what you think and could have tried to give an explanation on why. I you ask me I am pretty sure Linux variants like Ubuntu will be far more superior than Windows OSs in near future. Of course, most of the proprietary s/ws are being developed for windows OSs as it was the common OS, until recently. We can see many a number, in fact thousands, of free software developers are working towards developing uncountable numbers of software for Linux platform.
So, I hope, in near future Linux variants would outweigh Windows or Mac systems, and for that currently available versions should be made superior in every sense.

Good post. And i completely agree with evyavan. Nowadays there are many tools and other softwares that are available for free, which can replace almost all your windows applications. I agree that the first few days after switching to linux may not impress you much, but i am sure that you are going to love it once you start feeling the freedom and security.

I also completely agree with evyavan..
I was a Windows 7 user and I just tried Ubuntu once.. After that i never went back to windows. Linux is that much good.
Linux’s BackTrack is a awesome OS and ma favourite too..
