One of the ways suggested is sticking or hanging boards behind the cycles, vehicles coming to college, and the college buses which depict the message related to ABC, importance of cleaning, making people aware about the harmful effects etc.

This is one way in which awareness can be spread to people. Also the ABC team now comprises of a team solely for awareness purposes,like talking to people when going for waste collection, trying to involve more and more people in the process and try to convince people to reduce the use of plastic bags, make them aware of the harmful effects of the same, explaining and promoting the process of sorting waste and recycling whatever is possible, productive use of food waste for composting etc.
The process is a vast one and also requires the involvement of more and more volunteers. The involvement of more volunteers will not only enhance the speed of the process but also help improving one’s own self…

Topic :     “Laboratories Without Boundaries”

Abstract:

Scientists and engineers typically believe that laboratory experimentation is a critically important part of training in their fields.  Due to logistical or resource constraints, however, students are often denied such laboratory experiences.  MIT’s iLab Project addresses this by providing access to real laboratory experiments via the Internet.  This allows educators to complement existing hands-on labs with remotely available iLabs or to provide online lab experiences for distance learners.

During over a decade of the project’s evolution, iLabs have allowed us to reexamine what the role of labs can and should be in education. While online labs can easily cater to bounded and passive learning experiences, we have found that they can also introduce students to the fundamental engineering cycle of requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing and evaluation. Finally, online labs offer unique opportunities for students to learn that modern science and engineering are inherently global and interdisciplinary fields.

Campus Blogs in association with ayruz web holdings and aswini is organizing a photography competition from 12th November 2010 to 25th November 2010. The competition will be open for all and is not limited to the CampusBlogging Network. The winners will be announced in December. The prize for the best photograph will be a Digital Camera worth Rs. 10,000. The winner will be selected by a jury appointed by ayruz web holdings.

The theme of the competition is people and the categories which you can submit entries to are:

• Young families starting out.
• Working people
• Student Entrepreneurs
• Retired life

Photograph should be in full color and high resolution and also it should be focused on people in everyday situations, and should be spontaneous, dynamic, colorful and positive. Photographs should be in a landscape format, but portrait photographs are also allowed. Photographs should be natural and not staged. Photo shopping the image is not allowed, nor should photographs be artificially enhanced.

Those who wish to participate should send the compressed file(s) first then only a photo can be entered. It can also be emailed with indicating category to campusblogs@gmail.com. The participant’s details should also be included. There should be relevant authorization from Participants to publish the photographs they submit. This includes approval from any people depicted in the photographs.

Also photographs selected by the jury apart from "Best Photograph" winner will be sent by ayruz web holdings to an exclusive international photography competition which has a prize worth Rs. 75,000. The result of the international competition will be announced in the beginning of the new year and also please note that the photographs should not be uploaded anywhere in the internet until the result of the international competition is announced.
