MY SUGARY JAMUNS…..mmmmm!!!!

I don’t exactly remember when I first tasted this dessert, but I’m sure I’d immediately liked it because since then whenever I got a chance I never missed this heavenly experience. My mother  knew that I have no control over sweets(I am just a sweet-tooth ok ;) ?) and thus she made them rarely at home.I knew that there was no use of asking her for more and thus I made a trial.Well, consider it not only as my first attempt in making gulab-jamuns but also writing about something that i cooked;therefore accept it please..

So,the story of me making gulab-jamuns starts here :) -I spent this weekend being lazy and was so bored that I started going through all those  nik-naks in kitchen looking for something to stuff my mouth with.I hardly found anything sugary to eat and was totally disappointed. I always liked to eat, particularly sweet-food.(yum…just thinking about it makes my mouth water :) ) but thank God, this time I  not only had the mood to eat but also to try out something for myself. And no doubt, the first item that came to my mind was my all-time favorite sugary-jamuns,Oops..sorry GULAB-JAMUNS!!!

Now,what to say,my mom was extremely happy with the plan.”Thank God,atlast she decided to enter the kitchen”she might have thought ;) .She was ready with the recipe in her hands and got me everything that I needed and thus it was not that difficult to come out with my favorite dessert.

So,here comes the recipe of my SUGARY-JAMUNS..

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Cup skim milk powder
  • 1/2 Cup refined wheat flour.
  • Hydrogenated vegetable oil

Whole milk enough to make the dough

For the Sugar Syrup:

  • 2 Cups of sugar
  • Cardamom to taste
  • 1 cup of water
  • Oil for frying

METHOD:

  • To the mixture of refined wheat flour(maida) and skim milk powder, add 100-120 ml of  water[for every 1 cup of mix(without heap) add 1/3 cup of water].
  • Mix gently to make dough without lumps and keep aside for five minutes.
  • Make small round balls and fry on moderately hot oil/ghee/vanasphathi till golden brown color.
  • Soak them in hot sugar syrup and allow syrup to be absorbed.

For the sugar syrup, dissolve 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of water and boil for 5 min.Add cardamom for taste.

Wow!now my gulab-jamun is ready.I really enjoyed while making them(played a little with shapes ;) ).

A must-try sweet!!

Happy Gulab-Jamun-ing :) !!!!
